Physical Therapist Clinical Instructor Union City, CA



Description

Provides ongoing specialized orthopedic or neurologic manual therapy training and supervision to experienced physical therapists (residents) in their development as orthopedic or neurologic physical therapists. Assists in the development, review and revision of the design and curriculum of the residency program in conjunction with the Director.

Essential Functions:
- Evaluates and counsels in conjunction with a senior physical therapy clinical instructor and program director on the clinical knowledge and skills of the physical therapy residents based on program standards to include: musculoskeletal evaluation of patients; accurate assessment and problem identification; treatment techniques; appropriate patient education, discharge planning and further disposition of patients.
- Assists senior physical therapy clinical instructor in writing, grading and giving effective feedback to the residents.
- Develops and implements lectures and clinical labs assigned by the program director based on the theory and practice of orthopedic or neurologic physical therapy.
- Consults/communicates with other faculty members and director regarding ongoing clinical progress of residents and prepares written summaries on a regular basis.
- Provides orthopedic or neurologic physical therapy consultation to other Kaiser facilities.
- Provides education to other health care professionals in the community in specific area of specialization.
- Serves as a resource for development and evaluation of the residents' curriculum projects/assignments.
- Assists in the recruitment of physical therapy residents and faculty.
- Assists in ongoing development, review, revision, and evaluation of the program's curriculum and design.
- Assists as needed on advisory committees in the continuing evaluation and development of the program.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimumfive (5) years of experience of relevant physical therapy practice.
- Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in an orthopedic or neurologic physical therapy residency program and have passed the competency exam administered by that program.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy curriculum with a bachelor's or master's degree with certification in Physical Therapy or foreign-trained equivalent.
License, Certification, Registration
- Licensed to practice physical therapy by the State of California.

- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
