<title><![CDATA[Health Education Instructor III - (Oakland, California)]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[<p class="jobLocation">Req Id:  <span>185594</span></p>This position conducts specialized health education classes using moderately difficult or varied curriculum designed for the improvement of health of Kaiser Members & non-members & may serve as content & resource expert in the development of class curriculum.<br/>Essential Functions:<br/>- Teaches & models self-management skills, concepts, resources, & tools related to health, lifestyle change, & behavior modification to class participants.<br/>- Assists participants in developing specific behavioral goals.<br/>- Provides individual instruction & counseling, as needed.<br/>- Assesses needs of class participants & modifies class content to meet those needs.<br/>- Applies evidence based education techniques in teaching methods.<br/>- Sustains a high level of expertise & assures cutting-edge knowledge in specific topic area.<br/>- May coordinate health information projects such as program catalogs, newsletter, informational displays, community health events, etc.<br/>- May support staff education training related to specific content area.<br/>- May consult w/ physicians & staff regarding related health education services.<br/>- May be called on to review & develop or recommend high quality, culturally appropriate, written, & audio-visual health education materials to better meet class needs.<br/>- Arranges & coordinates room set-up, availability of materials, & audio/visual equipment.<br/>- Maintains records of training activities, including attendance rosters, homework assignments, class evaluations, & timesheets or phone TIME system.<br/>- Administers & collects class evaluation forms & class fees.<br/>- Conducts follow-up phones calls to participants including those who missed sessions to determine reason for absence, monitor progress of participants, & answer related questions.<br/>- Completes required continuous training & education such as; those related to workplace safety, legal & regulatory compliance, accreditation & license requirements, & department specific requirements.<br/>- Maintains & promotes knowledge & utilization of resources related to health, lifestyle change, & behavior modification offered by Kaiser Permanente & through the community.<br/><br><br>Qualifications:<br><br>Basic Qualifications:<br/>- Minimum offour (4)years of experience teaching classes or conducting training programs.<br/>- Bachelor's degree.<br/>- Master's degree in public health administration or equivalent preferred.<br/>- Licensed or professional credentials or certification as appropriate for the course instruction.<br/>- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory & group process.<br/>- Current knowledge of health concepts, preventive health care, & behavior change.<br/>- Must possess excellent communication & interpersonal skills.<br/>- Demonstrated skills in teaching techniques & presentation.<br/>- Demonstrated ability to lead & facilitate diverse groups of people w/ understanding of group dynamics.<br/>- Ability to function independently & exercise professional judgment.<br/><br/>Preferred Qualifications:<br/>- Trained in facilitating Weight management and Diabetes classes.<br/>- RD, CDE preferred.]]></description>

Develops strategic plans for development of training curricula, professional development and related consulting interventions. Conducts and/or coordinates the programs. Works independently with significant latitude to make decisions.<br/><br/>Essential Functions:<br/>- Consults with leaders within the organization to assess, trend and analyze the learning needs of employees based on current and future strategic plans.<br/>- Develops, implements and coordinates various training programs and training interventions.<br/>- Serves as a master trainer providing training and coaching to trainers and learning consultants.<br/>- Monitors, evaluates and makes leveraging recommendations about the cost effectiveness and quality of learning programs.<br/>- Plans, advocates for and implements the deployment of learning systems.<br/>- Manages, evaluates, selects, retains and brokers a pool of internal trainers, with diverse expertise to provide leveraged training of a specialized and/or technical nature.<br/>- Evaluates, selects and deploys computer based training programs.<br/>- Stays abreast of learning, consulting, training and development research including theory, motivation theory and new materials, methods and techniques.<br/>- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.<br/>- May assist HR Operations Manager and other staff with special projects.<br/><br/>Secondary Functions:<br/>- Compile weekly reporting information and special projects as needed.<br><br>Qualifications:<br><br>Basic Qualifications:<br/>- Five (5) years designing and administering education and training programs for a diverse client group with limited resources.<br/>- Previous experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.<br/>- Master's degree or equivalent experience in behavioral sciences, education or related field.<br/>- Expertise in the principles of group dynamics, adult learning theory, consulting and training and development techniques.<br/>- Outstanding verbal communication and presentation skills.<br/>- User knowledge of word-processing and spreadsheet software.<br/>- Must be able to travel within the United States 30% of the time.<br/>- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.<br/><br/>Preferred Qualifications:<br/>- Ability to travel within Northern California 30% of the time.<br/>- Knowledgeable and experienced in facilitating the development of leaders (supervisor through director) through a<br/>range of mediums including classroom learning, coaching, consultation, and team development.<br/>- Collaborates with STAR program leadership in the development and implementation of training programs for<br/>targeted audiences.<br/>- Assesses team effectiveness and facilitates team development programs and interventions.<br/>-Intentionally builds relationships across KFH/P and TPMG to gain buy in and move initiatives forward through employee development.<br/>- Approaches leadership development from a business perspective.<br/>- Monitors and evaluates training programs and interventions, and makes recommendations to improve effectiveness.<br/>- Helps management audiences adapt to change brought on by new technologies, market conditions, and KP vision.<br/>- Solves problems both independently and collaboratively (depending upon the situation) critically and strategically.<br/>- Navigates ambiguity and adapts to changing priorities with ease.<br/>- Collaboritve team player who is dependable, organized, and follows-through on commitments.<br/>- Independently generates ideas, options, and solutions to problems in a critical and thoughtful manner.<br/>- Successful in working in complex organizations.
