Operations Manager Clarity Pleasanton, CA

This individual will be responsible for managing the operations of Epic's Clarity database and data warehousing structure via a team of qualified staff located in several Kaiser regions, to produce information extracts and reporting. This Clarity Operations team resides within the CD BIO Information Technology department of Information Management & Service Oriented Architecture (IM & SOA) group, whose services are used by up to 170,000 users across the Kaiser enterprise. The position is responsible for ensuring that the Clarity application and supporting Teradata servers consistently operate efficiently, accurately and with high availability, and meet all Service Level Agreements. This position will be responsible for supporting strategic initiatives, implementing tactical action, managing the team and measuring results.To be successful, the individual will need to establish positive working relationships with IT, the business stakeholders, and vendor groups.

Essential Functions:
As part of the CD BIO management team, this individual will provide input in the development of the overall departmental goals and objectives to ensure they meet the operational needs of Clarity as well as the overall goals of the CD BIO.
Develop and maintain a consistent, repeatable process for managing Clarity operations to enable accuracy and high availability with little disruption to our business customers.
Establish operational objectives and assignments and delegates to team leads and technical employees.
Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies, which affect immediate operations.
Assures adherence to budgets, work plans, and performance requirements
Requires the ability to influence, or gain the acceptance of, others in sensitive situations.
Develop and manage a highly-effective team to successfully enable Clarity data to be available to stakeholders.
Encourages employee development by providing growth/learning opportunities.
Coordinates planning activities with team members to accomplish goals, allocate resources, and track results.
Initiates and evaluates required business process improvements in order to achieve business results and appropriate solutions for customers.
Presents, organizes, and conveys problems, issues and achievements within IT with internal customers and with business partners
Develop strong partnerships across the IT organization at a national and regional level to ensure strong collaboration across the organization.
Manage the daily operations of the Extract & Load function. This includes developing or 'institutionalizing', a more consistent prioritization process, for data errors and developing tactical strategies in managing these errors, in collaboration with regional representatives.
Manage the administration of the Teradata database supporting the Clarity application. The individual will provide technical guidance to DBAs and manage the vendors who are supporting the database.
Develop a strategy for working with regional report development groups and align the objectives of the Clarity team with the overall strategy and goals of the national and regional Clarity community.



Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Management or a related field, or 4 additional years of relevant experience.
A minimum of5 years of experience working within the Information Technology industry, including direct experience working with business stakeholders from executive leaders to the technical operations team within an organization.
A minimum of5 years of experience managing operations of a data warehouse or data repository that services thousands of multiple stakeholders within a matrix environment.
A Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible management experience in following areas: planning, budget/financial management, staffing, etc.
Demonstrated, direct experience with planning and implementing process change in an organization.
Use and development of metrics to guide and drive performance
Demonstrated, direct experience in monitoring and managing multiple vendors to provide the level of services specified on Service Level Agreements
Experience in monitoring vendor performance objectively and align the expectations of Kaiser Permanente and vendor.
Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
Prior experience working in the health care IT industry.
Experience working across a variety of business intelligence tools to include Business Objects, Crystal Reports, and Cognos.
Experience in solutions consulting including defining requirements, developing solution alternatives and estimates and translating client's business requirements into specific systems, applications or process designs for large complex IT solutions.
DBA experience in understanding views, data models, analysis
Hands-on experience with Oracle, SAS, Teradata
