PACS Administrator II South San Francisco, CA

Manages the operations of the PACS systems at the local facility to meet the clinical needs of the imaging department's workflow & referring physicians' expectations of receipt of diagnosis. Responsible for multi-facility oversight w/regards to troubleshooting system problems; regional initiatives & implementation processes for a system-wide integrated PACS environment. Also responsible for local system support & training for local processes & implementation of software upgrades & peripheral installations and responsible for working in collaboration IT in the installation planning & execution of all PACS related local projects.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluates & implements PACS initiatives & changing priorities w/smooth transition to the film-less environment in a timely manner
- Responsible for assisting w/planning, developing & implementing full service PACS in coordination w/KP WAN, & WEB, IT & NCR ISD's as needed
- Participates in regional on-call rotation & support for all regional PACS initiatives
- Participates in regional planning & operations support processes
- Assists w/system changes for local electronic transcription; local software & hardware upgrades as well as local & regional training for pertinent system changes
- Responsible for advanced training (vendor & internal) for local physicians, technologists, and other staff related to the Imaging PACS Implementations
- Responsible for local system administration coursework in Stentor/Phillips & Advanced DICOM coursework for internal purposes
- Performs local audits, gathers statistics & prepares reports for management & quality improvement
- Assists other PACS Administrators if needed remotely to troubleshoot & subsequently repair software related problems or issues upon request
- Provides technical support & training for PACS Level 1 staff
- Responsible for participating in regional Imaging Information Strategy groups as requested by the Regional Director of Imaging Services


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Supervisory or Management experience in a high volume full-service hospital managing 10 or more employees is required
- Experience in administrative operations preferably in the healthcare environment
- Experience in conducting training, implementation & troubleshooting of imaging informatics products (software & hardware)
- Previous computer & information data systems experience required
- TRRS, Dictaphone, MRMS, PARRS, PACS, Digital Imaging & conversions from analog to the digital environment history & experience preferred
- Voice Recognition software & hardware experience preferred
- Database management & acquisition/implementation experience preferred
- Associate Degree in Business, Organizational Development, Information or Technology related fields &/or experience required
- B.A. Degree preferred
- Training by vendor for regional on call rotation work required
- Knowledge of federal, state & local regulations that pertain to records retention, confidentiality & the release of medical records.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
- Strong verbal & written skills
- Strong information technology & computer skills required
- Prior budget management & development preferred as well as strong verbal & written communication skills required
- Accountable for managing the digital dictation system, transcription systems & electronic reporting systems for Imaging as well as potential involvement w/parallel service lines requiring PACS assistance
- DICOM, HL7 knowledge required
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
