<title><![CDATA[Patient Services Representative - (Rockville, Maryland)]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[<p class="jobLocation">Req Id:  <span>181692</span></p>Ensures a positive interaction between members and the Imaging Department staff through welcoming, registering, and, handling of appointments and financial transactions. Assists members with the general requirements of their Imaging procedure(s).<br/>Essential Functions:<br/>- Welcomes members in a professional manner that promotes a compelling customer service experience.<br/>- Assists members by providing general information, and/or referring those to appropriate staff as necessary.<br/>- Registers members in the appropriate KP Health Information Systems to include: verifying eligibility; updating demographic information; identifying special needs, and coordinating appropriate assistance.<br/>- Verifies test to be performed with the member against the Radiology Information System (RIS), creates an arm band and administers the arm band to the member.<br/>- Reconfirms member information stated on the arm band for accuracy.<br/>- Explains various types of Radiologic procedures and applicable costs.<br/>- Collects funds from member check in and check out, completes receipts, and posts transactions using applicable cash collection system, i.e., J-Point<br/>- Retrieves, reconciles, and deposits change fund, as applicable by center.<br/>- Assists members when appropriate with scheduling or re-scheduling appointments in the dedicated Radiology Information System using established protocols for the identified procedure(s).<br/>- Verifies appointment information with members for accuracy.<br/>- Verifies that member understands preparation instructions as presented by licensed personnel, and responds to general imaging questions: escalates technical and difficult/complex questions to the Radiologic Technologist, RN, or the Radiologist.<br/>- Maintains an active awareness of waiting members' status by frequently surveying the waiting area and observing their general disposition.<br/>- Anticipates conflicts/delays in schedules and effectively communicates with member and appropriate staff.<br/>- Pro-actively keeps members aware of unusual circumstances that may impact their wait time, keeping them constantly informed.<br/>- Maintains constant two-way communication throughout the day with the Lead Radiologic Technologist to ensure awareness of various daily work schedule(s) and situations that may cause delays in services.<br/>- Communicates the needs of the members to the Lead Radiologic Technologist and/or the Radiologist.<br/>- Explains multiple types of Radiologic procedures to member(s), answering their questions for each specific exam about which they inquire.<br/>- Answers and appropriately routes telephone calls received.<br/>- Initiates calls and returns calls to members and staff as appropriate on behalf of the department as needed.<br/>- Maintains supplies for reception and neatness of waiting area(s).<br/>- Assists in processing paperwork and signing out images for members in compliance with departmental procedures & HIPAA.<br/>- Performs other related duties, as appropriate.<br><br>Qualifications:<br><br>Basic Qualifications:<br/>- One (1) year of reception and/or customer service experience in a healthcare setting required.<br/>- High school diploma or equivalent required.<br/>- Demonstrated knowledge of Radiologic procedures performed required or achieved within thirty (30) days required.<br/>- Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software required.<br/>- Medical Terminology required.<br/>- Ability to sit for a prolong period of time.<br/>- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.<br/>- Able to handle periods of high stress.<br/>Preferred Qualifications:<br/>- Proficiency in the use of cash computer systems preferred.<br/>]]></description>
