RILIS System Coordinator I Richmond, CA

Supports of the laboratory information computer system primarily from the perspective of the local facilities, including medical office buildings. Operates as a scientific systems analyst as well as a business analyst, works with local medical, administrative, laboratory and network resources to diagnose, fixes and improves the operation of this wide-area network and maximizes interrelationships with other local region-wide existing networked systems.
Essential Functions:
- In coordination with local laboratory management and technical staff, serves as a scientific and technical business analyst with a focus on improving system usefulness to the local user. This includes increasing the number of functions that can be automated as well as seeking process improvements that reduce human interaction with the system.
- Works with the local laboratory management and facility administration, seeks ways to directly reduce overall RILIS expenses.
- Works with the local laboratory management and facility administration, seeks ways to improve patient satisfaction with the overall laboratory encounter. This involves training new staff as well as re-training staff on process improvements techniques.
- Assists as the primary facility contact for all applications touching on laboratory data, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Works with the local laboratory management and facility administration and RILIS System Coordinators across the region, assists in reducing inefficiencies by standardizing documentation and protocols required for Local, State, and Federal inspection of the laboratories including CAP, CLIA, The Joint Commission, AABB, and State of California.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Job may require supervisory responsibilities.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Extensive (usually 10+ years) of experience as a clinical laboratory scientist in all departments of a medium to large clinical laboratory.
- Previous experience with a clinical laboratory data system including database building and maintenance.
- Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience in a life science. Masters degree preferred.
- California License as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), or equivalent required.
- Significant knowledge in chemistry, biology, blood bank, and microbiology skills necessary to satisfy the State of California's description of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
- Substantial knowledge of regulatory issues including State, Federal, AABB, CLIA, and The Joint Commission.
- Proficient in PCs and Mainframe database issues.
- Knowledge of PathNet, DCL, and CCL languages preferred.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

- Works with local medical, administrative, laboratory and network resources to diagnose, correct and improve the operation and system usefulness of this wide area network; maximizes interrelationships with other local region wide existing networked systems.
- This includes increasing the number of functions that can be automated aswell as seeking innovative solutions that reduce human interaction with the system. - Works with the local laboratory management and facility administration, seeking ways to directly reduce overall RILIS expenses and to improve patient satisfaction with the overall laboratory encounter.
- This involves training new staff aswell as re-training staff on process improvement techniques.
- Serves as the primarily contact for RILIS related issues pertaining to laboratory data, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Works with the local laboratory management and facility administration and RILIS System Coordinators across the region, assisting in reducing inefficiencies by standardazing documentation and protocols required for Local, State, and Federal inspection of the laboratories including AABB, CAP, CLIA, JCAHO, and State of California

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Cerner Corporation PathNet software, Classic and Millennium.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation, laboratory instrument interfaces, and laboratory automation systems highly desirable.

Skills Testing: Programming and troubleshooting skills (CCL, SAS and SQL) desirable.
