Senior Counsel Labor and Employment Oakland, CA

Senior legal position in Oakland, California. This position will represent the Program in traditional labor and employment laws.
Essential Functions:
- Successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel on labor and employment matters, including negotiating, interpreting and advising on collective bargaining agreements, advising on grievances and other labor disputes, and handling arbitrations.
- Employment matters will include advice and counsel of the full range of employment law issues including hiring, discipline, terminations, pay and benefits. Advice and counsel and litigation experience in employment law, including complex disability and leave issues, wage and hour issues.


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Membership in the California Bar and excellent academic and professional qualifications required. JD required.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience providing legal advice and representation on traditional labor law and employment discrimination law, including complex disability and leave issues.
- Experience practicing in federal and/or state court and before federal and state regulators and administrative agencies, including the EEOC and the DFEH.
- Ideal candidate will also have experience in the health care industry.
- Must have excellent written and oral advocacy skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with occupational safety and health, wage and hour law and public policy/whistleblowing retaliation laws is preferred.
