Occupational Therapist (Staff) Honolulu, HI

Under general direction of coordinator, occupational therapy services, assists with planning, coordinating, implementing and directing occupational therapy services for inpatients and outpatients. Independently evaluates patients referred for occupational therapy service. Develops and implements appropriate treatment plans based on evaluation.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in planning, development and implementation of full array of occupational therapy services
- Assists in developing, initiating and providing appropriate in-service training to other professionals and nursing staff, including residents and students within interdisciplinary setting
- Provides evaluation of upper extremity muscle function and strength, joint motion and function, nerve function, A.D.L. skills, sensory motor integration evaluation, psychosocial development, levels of motor development and reflex function when requested by attending physician for both inpatients and outpatients
- Administers occupational therapy treatments based on neurophysiological principles and habilitation and rehabilitation techniques, which might include neurodevelopmental therapy, therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular facilitation, muscle reeducation, sensory motor training, and activities of daily living
- Maintains accurate clinical records of all patient care activities
- Writes report of initial assessment of each patient and develops specific written objectives and treatment plans for each patient, upgrading progress on regularly scheduled basis and adjusting treatment goals; plans according to patient's level of functioning
- Coordinates with other services and professionals to promote optimum efficient provision of habilitation services
- Provides orientation of occupational therapy services for families and visitors as needed
- Prepares and maintains work setting, equipment supplies
- Demonstrates working knowledge and appropriate application of cpt-4 codes for all services provided; keeps abreast of coding modifications and/or definitions (e.g., attends ongoing coding training sessions)

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of AMA
- Valid Hawaii Occupational Therapist license (must meet education requirement(s) for Hawaii State licensure)
- Certified Occupational Therapist (OTR) by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code required at time of hire - Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, conflict resolution, creativity/innovation, decision making, customer service, group process facilitation, influence/negotiation, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, systems thinking, teamwork, and written communication
- Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone
- Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English
- Training/giving and receiving instructions
- Mathematical ability, attention to detail (organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of working in acute care and/or physical rehabilitation setting
- Experience with Industrial and post-op hand surgery patients
