<title><![CDATA[Physician Assistant\Nurse Practitioner Vascular Surgery - (Clackamas, Oregon)]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[<p class="jobLocation">Req Id:  <span>167916</span></p>Provide high-quality health care through active participation in pre-, intra-, and post-operative care for patients in Vascular Surgery Department via direct assessment and formulation/implementation of treatment plan under the guidance of the physicians. Performs complete pre-operative work-up on patients, including H & P and patient pre-operative teaching. Makes hospital rounds, assists with discharge planning, assumes on-call responsibilities, and education. Document in writing all care in patient's permanent medical record in accordance with accepted medical/legal standards. Provides all medical care in accordance with accepted practice standards, hospital/clinic protocols (including supervision by a physician), and State licensing guidelines.<br/>Essential Functions:<br/>- Provide direct assessment, diagnosis and formulation/ implementation of treatment plan for patients presenting with peripheral vascular arterial disease, including patients with claudication, End stage renal disease, Raynaud's syndrome and erythromyalgia .<br/>- Outpatient responsibilities include histories and physicals, preoperative exams, ordering diagnostic studies and medications, screening referrals, scheduling surgeries, and post operative follow up and wound management.<br/>- Significant time is spent handling patient inquiries regarding preoperative, intra operative and post operative care.<br/>- Interpretation of non invasive arterial studies.<br/>- Teach varicose vein classes.<br/>- Provide direct assessment, diagnosis and formulation/ implementation of treatment plan for patients presenting with varicose vein and venous stasis.<br/>- Outpatient responsibilities include histories and physicals, preoperative exams, ordering diagnostic studies and medications, application of the principles of compression therapy, screening referrals, scheduling surgeries, and post operative follow up.<br/>- Significant time is spent handling patient inquiries regarding preoperative, intra operative and post operative care.<br/>- Provide surgical services as a first assistant on venous procedures.<br/>- Provide inpatient care by rounding on Vascular surgical patients during weekdays and/or weekends.<br/>- Responsibilities include writing post operative orders, charting follow up notes, changing dressings, removing sutures, handling drainage tubes.<br/>- Dictate all discharge summaries and write discharge orders for follow up care in the clinic.<br/>- Provide surgical call coverage with vascular or cardiac surgery Allied clinician on regular department rotation with vascular surgeon.<br/>- Review and manage vascular imaging results including US, CT scans, MRA, angiograms based on protocols for AAA, ELSG, Bypass grafts, dialysis access, carotid surgery or carotid stenting.<br/>- Duties include ordering future appropriate diagnostic studies.<br/>- Significant time is spent with data entry in local, regional, and/or national registries.<br/><br><br>Qualifications:<br><br>Basic Qualifications:<br/>- Graduate of approved PA or NP program with certification.<br/>- Bachelor's degree as PA, NP or closely related field.<br/>- National Certification<br/>- State medical PA or NP License<br/>- BCLS<br/>- Annual recertification through CME as required by licensure<br/>- Thorough and working knowledge of peripheral vascular diseases and wound care and their treatment.<br/>- Working knowledge of state health care laws, licensing board regulations and controlled substance regulations.<br/>- Important to know limitations and when to refer patients to the vascular surgeon.<br/>- Ability to assess, diagnose and plan effective treatment for vascular surgical diseases and injuries.<br/>- National Certification<br/>- Ability to see large volume of patients on a daily basis, in both hospital and ambulatory settings.<br/>- Ability to take evening and week end call as needed to support service needs<br/>Preferred Qualifications:<br/>- Minimum 2 years clinical surgical experience in vascular surgery.<br/>- Graduate of ANA approved Nurse Practitioner training program.<br/>- Master's degree as PA, NP or closely related field<br/>- Additional training in wound care.<br/>- Thorough and working knowledge of vascular diseases and venous disease and their treatment.<br/>- Thorough and working knowledge of wound care and wound assessment and management, especially in diabetic feet, and chronic wounds.<br/>- Working knowledge of state health care laws, licensing board regulations and controlled substance regulations.<br/>- Important to know limitations and when to refer patients to the vascular surgeon.<br/>- Ability to assess, diagnose and plan effective treatment for vascular surgical diseases and injuries.<br/>- Ability to use appropriate procedural/testing equipment, to see large volume of patients, and to interface with large provider and support staff<br/>- Excellent assistant surgical skills, especially with vascular procedures.<br/>- Working knowledge of data registry<br/><br/>Salary range:<br/>$53.20 - $78.18]]></description>
