<title><![CDATA[EFDA Certified Dental Assistant Temporary (90 days) - (Salem, Oregon)]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[Provide direct support to dentists, hygienists, denturists & other provider personnel in the delivery of dental care & service w/in a Kaiser Permanente dental office.<br/><br/>Essential Functions:<br/>- Perform all of the duties permitted a dental assistant consistent w/ the individual's training & in the presence of or under the observation of a licensed provider as referenced in State Dental Practice Act & the related Administrative Rules.These duties to include<br/>- Apply topical anesthetic & desensitizing agents, as directed by the provider<br/>- Removal of sutures & post-extraction & periodontal dressings<br/>- Retract a patient's cheek, tongue, or other tissue during an operation<br/>- Assist in the placement or removal of a rubber dam<br/>- Remove debris created during operative procedures w/ a vacuum device, compressed air, mouth washes, or water<br/>- Extra-oral procedures which are not hazardous<br/>- Inspect the oral cavity using a mirror<br/>- Dry root canals w/ paper points<br/>- Place temporary filling material into the endodontic access<br/>- Take impressions for periodontal night guard<br/>- Polish the coronal surfaces of teeth when a dentist or hygienist has determined teeth are free of calculus<br/>- Train persons (patients) in techniques of oral hygiene & prevention of oral disease<br/>- Place films (dental radiographs), adjust equipment preparatory to exposing films, & expose films<br/>- In support of the practice of a dentist provider who is not an orthodontist<br/>- Preliminary select & size bands<br/>- Remove fixed orthodontic appliances<br/>- Check for loose bands & brackets<br/>- Remove ligature ties & head appliances<br/>- Place & remove arch wires, elastics & orthodontic separators<br/>- Take intra-oral measurements for orthodontic procedures<br/>- Remove supra-gingival orthodontic bracket bonding material w/ a hand piece that does not exceed 25,000 revolutions per minute<br/>- Place ligature ties & head appliances<br/>- Train persons (patients) in techniques of oral hygiene & prevention of oral disease<br/>- Place films (dental radiographs), adjust equipment preparatory to exposing films, & expose films<br/>- Organize patient's dental record consistent w/ established guidelines, confirm its availability & assure that it is in order & ready for provider's use at the time care & service is to be provided<br/>- Greet, introduce self to, & inform patient of general treatment to be provided & provider to be seen consistent w/ established Kaiser Permanente Behavioral Guidelines<br/>- Review health questionnaire w/ patient & notify provider of reported conditions that could effect treatment<br/>- Promote patient's emotional comfort by gaining rapport, instilling confidence & promoting tranquility<br/>- Inform & answer patient's &/or parent's questions regarding care & service provided as directed by provider<br/>- Anticipates needs of provider in the delivery of patient care & service<br/>- Communicate information important to maintaining the proper scheduling & flow of patients consistent w/ information recorded in the patient's dental record<br/>- Prepare, organize, arrange & pass dental instruments, supplies & materials as requested by the provider & required by established guidelines<br/>- Establish & maintain a clear & clean operating field<br/>- Record &/or verify information in the patient's dental record according to established procedures<br/>- Other duties appropriate for EFDA DA II as authorized by Board of Dentistry rules & regulations<br><br>Qualifications:<br><br>Basic Qualifications:<br/>- High school diploma or GED<br/>- One (1) year as a dental assistant or graduation from an ADA accredited dental assisting program<br/>- Certificate in Dental Radiological Proficiency<br/>- EFDA Certification w/in 90 days<br/>- CPR Certified w/in 90 days of hire date<br/>- Pit & Fissure Sealant Certification w/in 120 days of hire date<br/>- Candidate is required to pass a pre-employment dental assistant skills test<br/>- Basic knowledge of sterilization & infection control equipment preferred<br/>- Demonstrated competence in four-handed dentistry technique<br/>- Satisfactory level of knowledge & proficiency in use of current dental materials, instruments & equipment<br/>- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions & work effectively under both direct & indirect supervision<br/>- Well organized in use of time & effort<br/>- Demonstrated capacity to act in a professionally courteous manner when interacting w/ patients, providers & other employees - good interpersonal skills<br/>- Excellent attendance record<br/><br/>Salary Range:<br/>$16.61 - $20.69]]></description>

<title><![CDATA[EFODA Certified Ortho Dental Assistant - (Salem, Oregon)]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[To provide direct patient care to orthodontic patients within a Kaiser Permanente dental office.<br/><br/>Essential Functions:<br/>- Instruct the patient in proper technique of orthodontic oral hygiene, e.g. the use of elastics, separators, face bow and removable appliances and proper tooth brushing technique.<br/>- Perform the following functions provided the dentist is on the premises and checks the patient before and after the functions are performed.<br/>- Remove cement from bands using an ultrasonic or hand scaler.<br/>- Recement loose orthodontic bands.<br/>- Take impressions for the following purposes: diagnostic models, counter and opposing models, fabrication of temporary removable orthodontic appliances ntraoral bite registration for study model articulation.<br/>- Remove any portion of an orthodontic appliance causing a patient discomfort and replace isomeric ligatures in an emergency when the dentist is not on the premises.<br/>- Evaluate each returning patient for loose or broken bands and/or unbonded brackets.<br/>- Place and remove ligature ties for adjustment of arch wires and/or bands.<br/>- Place and remove arch wires.<br/>- Preliminarily select and size bands.<br/>- Place and remove interarch elastics and/or spring orthodontic separators.<br/>- Place bracket on study model and fabricate tray for indirect bonding procedures.<br/>- Photograph patient for intraoral and extraoral diagnosis utilizing appropriate retraction technique and equipment.<br/>- Label and record all models, photographs and x-rays for presentation of case and later retention.<br/>- Properly finish study models consistent with the criteria established by the orthodontist.<br/>- As instructed, trace cephalometric x-rays for diagnostic purposes consistent with criteria established by the orthodontist.<br><br>Qualifications:<br><br>Basic Qualifications:<br/>- Prefer no less than one (1) year of experience as a dental assistant preferred.<br/>- Prefer experience as an orthodontic assistant but willing to train preferred.<br/>- The individual must: Complete a dental assisting program (Accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association) or Complete a course of instruction in Orthodontic assisting (Approved by the Board) and pass the Basic and Expanded Function Orthodontic Examination (Administered by the Dental Assisting National Board, Inc. DANB).<br/>- EFODA - Expanded Function Orthodontic Dental Assistant Certification, Oregon.<br/>- Oregon Certificate in Dental Radiological Proficiency.<br/>- CPR Certified or certified within 90 days of hire date.<br/>- EFODA (Expanded Function Orthodontic Dental Assistant) certification required within six (6) months of hire for those individuals working in the State of Oregon.
