Clinical Laboratory Service Manager

Accountable to the Service Areas through the department managers for the comprehensive Clinical Laboratory equipment service program by providing effective management of staff to ensure that the services provided are competitive & streamlined to maximize the efficiency of the services without interfering with patient care.

Essential Functions:
- Coordinates with the Clinical Technology Senior Manager for Service Delivery, the Area Clinical Technology Managers (ACTMs), the Support Services Assistant Administrators (SSAAs), and the Local and Regional Clinical Laboratory Managers to ensure timely & effective delivery of Clinical Laboratory equipment services across NCAL Region
- Provides a single point contact for Service Area leadership to establish relationships & address quality of service & quality measurement issues as they apply to the Clinical Laboratory equipment management program.
- Coordinates with Clinical Technology department & Clinical Laboratory Department Managers to resolve service related issues & ensure the timely completion of CM & PM, hazard alerts, & associated functions.
- Coordinates with other ACTMs with input from Biomedical Service Engineers to develop efficient, cost effective & regulatory agency approved routine service procedures for all Clinical Laboratory equipment & determine appropriate workload balance.
- Coordinates with Service Area leadership to acquire & retain adequate shop, office, & storage space to ensure effective Service Area support by all Clinical Laboratory equipment service engineers.
- Evaluates, recommends & manages equipment service contracts both OEM & 3rd party service suppliers.
- Coordinates with Clinical Technology staff to provide representation, as needed, on various committees in the service area to facilitate the equipment planning, acquisition, installation, & disposal processes.
- Ensures Clinical Technology staff representation on the Safety, Quality Assurance, & other Service Area committees.
- Coordinates with other Clinical Technology Service Management to secure adequate staff training & development within the Clinical Laboratory specialty.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electronics, physics, science, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience successfully managing technical staff in a medical equipment service program within a multi-hospital or independent service organization.
- Work experience in a progressively complex medical equipment service environment in a hospital setting.
- Strong working technical knowledge of the clinical health care field to include, but not limited to, cardiology, clinical systems, laboratory, instrumentation, RT/anesthesia, and diagnostic imaging. - Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws and regulations relating to medical equipment in the health care environment.
- Proficiency with a wide variety of software applications.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Must be able to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess and maintain a valid CA driver's license.
- Associate of Science (AS) or equivalent experience.
- Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician certificate.
- Field service experience.
- Experience servicing medical diagnostic imaging equipment in a multi-hospital setting, computer OS and networking knowledge.
- AAMI or VA BMET or CRES certification.
- Experience and/or knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
