Practice Leader Consulting Biorepository Lead Berkeley, CA



Description

Responsible for the delivery and management of consulting services in areas of key organizational importance.Supports leadership in the definition and attainment of organizational goals.

Essential Functions:
- Leads large-scale process redesign/improvement efforts designed to facilitate attainment of key organizational objectives.
- Provides leadership and expert consultation on the design, development, and implementation of process and programs related to practice areas.
- Sets the overall direction of the practice to address key organizational issues.
- Staffs projects to ensure that teams are composed of individuals with appropriate skills and expertise.
- Ensures that client and organizational needs are met consistently.
- Collaborates with other Practice Leaders to provide support to regional and CSA leadership in the pursuit and attainment of organizational goals.
- Support will include setting priorities for strategically focused areas, identifying opportunities for improvement, and advising on specific areas of expertise.
- Provides leadership in the development and dissemination of best practices across regional departments.
- Establishes effective working relationships with peers both internal and external to KP.
- Fosters a customer oriented work environment with emphasis on dedication to helping customers, respect for individuals, highest standards of quality, innovation, empowerment, and teamwork by developing and implementing policies and practices that reflect the vision of Kaiser Permanente. Supervises and develops staff.
- Coaches and develops employees according to their strengths; creates a structure that will promote self-directed work.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years of general business experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of health care consulting and project management.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, industrial engineering, operations research, public health administration, or other related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- N/A

- Understanding of KP operations and competitors, and economic, social, and legal environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
KPRB is building a Biobank, creating a resource of 500,000 participants who represent membership in all seven Kaiser Permanente regions, consequently creating one of the world's largest and most diverse repositories of genetic, environmental, and health data. The KP Research Bank will be a core resource for translational research to advance knowledge about prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of disease and will impact the health and health care of KP members and the communities we serve.

The Biorepository Lead will play a key role in the operations and strategic areas of growth of the KP Research Bank (KPRB). The KPRB Biorepository stores and processes biological specimens for the KPRB and other biobanking projects. The Lead will develop elements of the infrastructure and processes required for these collections and services provided by the Biorepository and will guide the biorepository staff with the implementation of these processes. The Lead will be responsible for activities related to many aspects of the lifecycle of these specimens, including collection, sample annotation, quality control and quality assessment, storage, shipping, receipt, de-identification, use in projects, and destruction. The Biorepository Lead will represent the Biorepository on cross-functional teams whose activities involve or intersect with Biobank operations and will have the opportunity to conduct technology assessment for the growth and evolution of the Biorepository.
The Biorepository Lead will represent the Biobank in initiatives relevant to banked specimens.

- Master's degree, PhD or MD in Biological Sciencespreferred.
- Experience with lab environment (10 years)
- Supervisory experience in lab environment (10 years)
- Expertise in lab best practices and work in a validated environment preferred (5 years)
- Excellent communication skills
