<description><![CDATA[<p class="jobLocation">Req Id:  <span>183185</span></p>Nurse practitioners provide health care services to patients who may have acute episodic conditions or chronic problems, as well as those seeking health evaluation, preventive care and/or education and counseling. NPs provide care in areas within KP in primary care or specialty departments consistent with their educational preparation following the Regional Standardized Procedures and Process Protocols for Ambulatory and Hospital-Based Practice.<br/>They perform complete physical examinations, including ordering, interpreting and evaluating diagnostic tests and examinations. Assume on-going responsibility for each patient from discovery of the disorder to recovery. Diagnose and treat both chronic and episodic disorders including complications of otherwise normal processes. Establish and document the health care plan and diagnosis, maintain records of each case that are sufficiently complete for any physician reviewing them to evaluate the effectiveness of the plan.<br/>Function in an expanded role to regularly provide primary, acute or emergency care to patients with complicated medical or surgical conditions which requires an intensive level of care. <description><![CDATA[<p class="jobLocation">Req Id:  <span>168825</span></p>Responsible for the administrative & business management of a small (less than 20 FTEs) or medium size (less than 50 FTEs) department providing ambulatory patient care services. Through clinical nurse supervisors and/or assistant nurse managers, ensures patient care staff provides high quality, accessible, cost effective care, & patient focused services to members across the continuum which comply w/ local, state, & federal requirements; implements & maintains clinical & patient care practice standards, budgets, & staff development. Manages operations & services that add value & are integrated w/ nursing standards of practice, service priorities, & performance/outcome measures, as well as w/ strategic, business, & organizational goals/objectives.<br/>Essential Functions:<br/>- Manages outpatient operations & through nurse supervisor(s) and/or assistant department nurse manager(s) is responsible for the delivery of nursing services & outpatient care which are integrated w/ business plans & meet or exceed cost, quality, clinical, & utilization standards & performance measures<br/>- Ensures that services meet members', physicians', & internal clients' needs in a changing & competitive health care market<br/>- Achieves integrated services across the continuum of care & manages & ensures continuous improvement of all clinical practices, services, & operations by designing & implementing systems, processes, & methods to evaluate & improve patient care across the continuum of care<br/>- Ensures patient care staff provide the highest quality of care & are in compliance w/ the Nurse Practice Act, JCAHO, NCQA, federal, state, & local requirements<br/>- Collaborates w/ physicians, nursing & other health care providers in establishing, implementing, & maintaining patient care & quality service standards to meet members' & internal clients' expectations<br/>- Acts as a patient advocate resolving patient care issues<br/>- Designs & evaluates processes to improve systems & patient care results across the continuum of care<br/>- Develops & monitors budgets & resource allocations<br/>- Monitors financial performance & identifies & implements strategies to reduce costs & improve quality of care/service<br/>- Determines the appropriate staff-mix for department & develops processes to screen, interview, hire, train, & maintain the competency of all department staff<br/>- Provides for on going staff development<br/>- Develops, implements, & monitors departmental policies & procedures which support the organization's goals & business objectives & ensures they are met<br/>- Collaborates w/ Physician Team Leader & Department Chief in developing the level of patient services & the day-to-day operations of the department<br/>- Manages & resolves human resource, labor relations, employee & department safety, & risk management issues<br><br>Qualifications:<br><br>Basic Qualifications:<br/>- Usually three (3) to five (5) years of experience in ambulatory care management / supervision or other related clinical area<br/>- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (usually four (4) years)in health care related field required<br/>- Master's degree preferred<br/>- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills; knowledge of ambulatory care practices, operations and local, state and federal regulatory standards]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<p class="jobLocation">Req Id:  <span>158589</span></p>Under the general supervision of Chief of Service and the Assistant Medical Group Administrator, plans, develops, implements, evaluates, and supervises the Optometry service delivery and quality assurance program. Develops and implements programs of peer review and inservice education. Participates in short and long range planning for improving delivery accessibility of service in the Optometry department. Provides comprehensive vision services case management to members.<br/><br/>Essential Functions:<br/>- Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.<br/>- Coordinates central planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Optometry programs with appropriate input from the Chief of Service and Assistant Medical Group Administrator.<br/>- These include Optometrist and departmental goal setting, optometry projects, literature, supplies and continuing education, peer review and productivity, quality of care and service.<br/>- Responsible for the coordination of the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of Optometry and departmental policies, clinical practice agreements and quality assurance program.<br/>- Ensures Optometrists' compliance with all licensure requirements.<br/>- Oversees orientation and training for Optometrists.<br/>- Plans, coordinates and schedules the office hours and leaves for Optometrists.<br/>- Participates in the interviewing and selection process for all Optometrist candidates, as well as completion of performance assessments of current staff.<br/>- Performs other administrative responsibilities such as collection and compilation of Optometrist statistics, budget development and monitoring.<br/>- An Optometry Coordinator also provides direct optometry care and services to members as listed: provides visual examinations, including for pathology.<br/>- Conducts detection and differential diagnosis of abnormal visual, ocular and/or systematic conditions.<br/>- Provides additional specialized testing and therapy such as contact lens examinations, visual fields (perimetry), tonometry, orthoptics (for therapy of amblyopia, suppression, diplopia, extraocular muscle problems and associated conditions), low vision evaluation for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with subnormal vision not correctable with standard opthalmic appliances, fluorescein angiography for diagnosing and documenting ocular conditions, ocular photography for photo examination of the external and internal structures of the eye under the direction of Ophthalmology.<br/>- Provides treatment of the visual system within the scope of optometric licensure, including writing prescriptions for ophthalmic spectacles, contact lenses, orthoptics and non-optical aids.<br/>- Works effectively as a team member/leader of other areas of Vision Services which includes Optical Lab and Optical Dispensing.<br/>- Promotes member satisfaction by ensuring the provision of a high level of quality of service and care.<br/>- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.<br><br>Qualifications:<br><br>Basic Qualifications:<br/>- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience as an Optometrist required.<br/>- Leadership and supervisory experience preferred.<br/>- Graduate of a school or college of Optometry accredited by the State Board of Optometry.<br/>- Current California license from the State Board of Optometry.<br/>- California certificate to use topical diagnostic pharmaceutical agents.<br/>- National Provider Identifier (NPI) required.<br/>- Knowledge of optometric practice, including anatomy, physiology, pathology and mechanics of the human eye and visual processes.<br/>- Detailed knowledge of ocular pharmacology and therapeutics.]]></description>
